Canon Powershot A650 IS For Great Point And Shoot Photos

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

digital13.jpg

The Canon Powershot A650 IS is a sequel to Canon’s A640 and while old model already responded to the requirements of hobbyists who want a point and shoot camera that can get them good shots, the Canon Powershot A650 IS is a step forward to the right direction indeed.

The A640 is hard to duplicate so Canon thought of adding more pixels, rushing for the 12 megapixel resolution.  The A650 IS also boasts of the image stabilization feature which avoids blurring and the ever-present camera shake problem.

It also has a 6x optical zoom, 4x digital zoom and a 2.5 inch swivel LCD display to preview your shots. A 32 MB digital memory for storage is included in the package which may not be enough if you get photos all the time but you can replace it with a 1GB or higher digital memory storage.

digital9.jpg

The Nikon Coolpix L18 may be a small point and shoot camera but it boasts of a 3x optical zoom and an 8 megapixel resolution.  It has a red-eye fix but like most cameras with this feature, it can’t be relied on to produce photos without the red eye problem.  It can minimize the effects though.

This digicam is good for beginners who could not as yet control their shots as it has an Anti-Shake AE mode to make sure you get clear photos all the time.  This also ensures good photos even if you are on the go or constantly moving when taking the shots.  You can view your photos through the big enough 3-inch LCD screen display.

It operates on two AA batteries and has a 28MB internal memory.  Not bad for a camera that’s below $150.
